Softtop Team Chat gives internal teams a channel-based messaging platform built directly into their phone system — no separate Slack or Teams account required. Channels organize conversations by project, department, or topic. Direct messages reach individual teammates. File sharing, image upload, and link previews are available in every conversation thread. All messages are encrypted and stored with configurable retention settings.
One-click escalation from a text thread to a voice call or HD video meeting is the key advantage of team chat living inside the phone system. When a text conversation requires a live discussion, one click connects both parties on a voice call or video meeting without dialing a number or sending a meeting invite. This eliminates the coordination overhead of scheduling calls to resolve conversations that could be handled in minutes on a live connection.
Team Chat integrates with the incoming call flow. When a customer calls and the primary agent is busy, a ring group notification posts in the team's channel so any available team member can pick up. After-hours routing notifies the on-call team member via a direct message when a customer calls outside business hours. Voicemail notifications with AI-generated transcripts post in a designated channel so the whole team sees missed calls without needing to listen to individual recordings.
The admin dashboard controls which team members have access to which channels, manages file storage limits, and sets message retention policies for compliance purposes. External guests can be invited to specific channels for partner or client collaboration without full platform access. Team Chat is included on all Softtop business phone plans and scales to unlimited team members with no additional per-user chat fee for standard usage.
